So it could have been worse. I could have been in the car. More than just the front bumper could have been damaged. But finding your car has been hit is freaking a pain-in-the-ass. Thankfully the girl that backed her moving truck into my car was sweet enough to leave a note with her policy # as well as came out to say hello when she saw me outside taking pictures. I’ve never had to file a claim before, so I was a little more than frustrated, and of course I cried… a lot (but that tends to be my default reaction to any emotion I’m feeling). I’m hoping everything gets settled soon, but it will probably drag on a bit. I pretty much have zero confidence in the insurance companies. I called her insurance originally and filed a claim, then called mine just to see whats up. And my insurance company was no help at all. I feel like this situation has definately put another nail into the “get-rid-of-the-car” coffin. aaaarrggggg.
Summertime in Chicago is awesome – it’s one of the reasons I love this city so much. Sure it’s hot, humid (ok soggy might be a better word) but the sun is out, people are out, and there are so many wonderful things to do. Streets are lined with outside cafes, the lakefront is covered with sunbathers, rollerbladers, and bikers. Festivals, book fairs, and farms markets start popping up around every corner….and I love it all. But one of the things I’ve just recently discovered which make Chicago eve more awesome are the free concerts in Millennium Park. This weekend I went to two concerts, set out a lil picnic and had some wine. perfect way to spend a nice, warm summer evening.
So I read this article today about a couple who got married even though both are “official” swine flu cases. I get the wedding plans have been set (probably for a year or so), and I get the hassle of it all, and I totally get going through with the ceromony…what I wonder is – did they go to the reception? I can’t help but think about all the times I’ve had the flu and I’m picturing all the unique ways this bride got around not vomiting on her wedding dress. I guess starting married life out “for worse” means things can only go up.
I tweet. Sometimes a lot. Sometimes not at all. I am always amazed and fascinated by Twitters possibilities…about how on the pulse it is with whatever seems to be going on in the world now. With the Iran election running super hot right now – it amazes me to see the different this lil micoblogging called Twitter site has. Twitter actually postpones maintenance so as not to interrupt live blogging. People band together, changing their timezone to +3.30 GMT in attempts to help shelter Iranian bloggers. The saying that one person makes a difference - it actually feels like this is true with a tool like twitter.
