Forgive

Forgive.

I struggle with this word. I use to think of it as self-righteous and really the opposite of letting go. This is probably because every time anyone said ‘I forgive you” – I never felt forgiven, I felt judgment and sass.

I’m not sure who is behind all this but all over the city there is the word “Forgive” scrawled in what looks like dripping paint on sidewalks.

But as I’ve seen the word “Forgive” pop up in the most random places there have been several times where I felt so relieved to see it written there.  Forgiveness isn’t always about forgiving others…

sometimes it’s about forgiving yourself

Forgive yourself for what happened. Forgive yourself when something couldn’t be helped, what was out of control and for what was in your control.  Forgive yourself for things you’ll never change. Forgive the good and the bad.  Forgiveness isn’t always about censure, it’s a way to acknowledge to the situation.

the sun may set, but it always rises again

To be OK.
Move on.
Let it go.
