Fish Bar

Finally. I can cross another 2011 Food Challenge Restaurant off my list! Last week Mary Kate and I went to Fish Bar.

I can say that the name does accurately reflect what you’ll get – it’s a bar with fish.

For some reason I was thinking the restaurant would be fancier, more than just mason jar glasses and picnic-like tables outside. And inside it was just a bar, with stools. Definitely a get in, get out sort of feel. With that said, I never felt rushed. Mary Kate and I casually ordered, chatted, and eat without any pressure to get outta there, even with the lines forming.

Every we ordered was fried and I’m trying to remember now if there was another on the menu that wasn’t fried…

The fried shrimp I ordered was hands down some of the freshest shrimp I’ve tasted in Chicago! The calamari was OK, it had a lot of other stuff fried in with it like jalapenos and lemons that I wasn’t a huge fan of.

I’m glad I got to eat here, even with the freshest tasting shrimp, overall I went in thinking it was going to be a classier joint and was disappointed.
