I’ve been wondering a lot lately about what my Twitter stream says about me.
At the time of this posting I have 1674 followers, following 2000, tweeted 4086 times, I have a Klout score of 49 and my last few tweets involved cupcakes, the weather, and Chicago.
Ta-da! That’s me via Twitter stats…. and what does that even mean?
It means I’ve been on twitter for over 2 years.
It means I carefully (and sometimes not so carefully) sought out like-minded people.
It means I made a decision to participate in this medium.
So I’ll admit, when I’m deciding whether or not to follow someone – I do look at their stats. I make some assumptions (and have been proven wrong), but for the most part I want to follow people who make the decision to participate.
I have a rule about not following people who don’t follow back I don’t need someone’s soapbox in my stream…and I’ll admit to an eye-roll or two when someone has “social media” or “digital guru” in their profile and yet only has 100 followers.
I wonder though…
I am being a Twitter snob?
How do you decide to follow?
